The thinking
behind ENDGAME.

Entrepreneurship, personal objectives and the other side of decisions.

The question I return to.

What do I want a business to make possible — and what am I prepared to give up for it? That question sits behind ENDGAME. It keeps the personal objective visible when opportunities, obligations and other people’s expectations pull in different directions.

This website brings together my model and my writing about the choices that follow from that question.

I know the other side, too.

I know entrepreneurship is not only about the phases in which everything goes to plan. That perspective shapes the questions I ask: what does a move make possible, what does it tie us to, and what remains if the assumptions change?

I want that experience to sharpen the examination of a decision, not replace it. An uncomfortable question can be more useful than an attractive answer.

Conviction without a closed mind.

I value clear decisions and the willingness to stand behind them. I also want a model that can challenge my own assumptions. Being persistent about an objective and being prepared to change the route are not opposites.

The same applies to ownership. A personal objective matters, but so do the interests and rights of other people. A strategy has to deal with that reality.

Thinking in public.

The blog is where I explore these ideas in more detail: growth and freedom, ownership and control, decisions and their consequences. Some pieces develop the model; others examine a single question.

ENDGAME remains a working model. The writing is part of its development, not a claim that every question has already been settled.
